Rwanda Karora washed
This coffee shows the unique character of the Rwandan terroir – lively, clean and elegant. A must for all filter coffee fans. Delicate, juicy and refreshingly complex – the Rwanda Karora is an exceptional filter coffee. Grown by small-scale farmers in the mountainous areas of Karongi District and meticulously processed at the Karora station using the traditional ‘fully washed’ method.
Today, the Karora processing station operates under the leadership of two sisters – Mukamana Immaculee and Nyiramana Francine, who are the only survivors of the family that restored the farming tradition after the 1994 genocide. The Karonga station they bought has Fair Trade and Rainforest Alliance certification and works with 364 farmers from the Karora cooperative. They are focusing on sustainable processing and plan to get organic certification as well.
Expect fresh orange notes in the cup, a subtle sweetness of black tea and a clean gooseberry finish. It has a tea-like body and bright acidity – the perfect choice for slow mornings or thoughtful afternoons.
